Scaling your knitting project up or down is easy as I've included every row in each pattern.

Most of my patterns are written in aran weight yarn, however they can be knitted in any weight. Changing the weight of yarn will scale the project up or down.

When scaling your project up or down, always use the recommended needle size on the ball band of the yarn and achieve the tension stated on the band.

To scale your project down:
Use a thinner weight of yarn than aran. Using DK will make the project slightly smaller than the finished size listed on the pattern. If using DK, use a ball of each colour used in the pattern will give you more than enough to knit your project. Make sure you use 4mm knitting needles when using DK yarn.

You can also use finer weights, such as 2ply, 4ply or sport and these will make much smaller versions of the projects in the book. Make sure you use the recommended needle size on the ball band of the yarn when scaling your project down.

To scale your project up:
Use a chunkier weight of yarn than aran. Using a regular chunky yarn such as Stylecraft Special Chunky on 6mm knitting needles will make the project slightly bigger than the finished size on the listed on the pattern. If using chunky, make sure you have slightly more yarn than the amount listed on the pattern, as you don't want to run out.

To make a bigger version of the project, use any heavier chunky yarn knitted on 7mm or 8mm knitting needles. To super size the project use super chunky yarn on 10mm or 12mm knitting needles.

Make sure you use the recommended needle size on the ball band of the yarn when scaling your project up.
